The British Army spokesman in Helmand Province, Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson, has spoken to the BBC about the military operation in Afghanistan.
He said progress was being made in the country and that the army's equipment was "first-rate".
It comes after eight more British soldiers were killed in southern Afghanistan within 24 hours.
The total number of British troops killed in eight years of combat in Afghanistan has risen to 184, greater than the 179 killed in Iraq.
