The team is located in Northwood in the UK and in Helmand at Camp Bastion and the Task Force Headquarters and works to support the coalition forces together with the other government departments such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development. EXCLUSIVE PICTURES: Merlin goes operational in Afghanistan
Pictures of a Merlin helicopter flying over Helmand, after 10 days of operational flying the helicopters have reached initial operating capability a month earlier than expected.
The aircraft arrived at Camp Bastion in southern Helmand Province earlier this month and beef up air support for British troops.
