PICTURE of the Day: 40 Commando Heli Ops, Sangin

A series of images taken halfway into 40 Commando Royal Marines' tour of Helmand Province, Afghanistan. They capture the beauty of Sangin and the Green Zone at sunset as well as depicting the RAF's daily battle to keep the Marines resupplied with supplies.

  6. Our Grandson Alex Benstead is with Bravo Company with 40 Commando in the hellhole of Sangin.
    We think of him everyday along with all those in 40 Commando. We pray they will all return home safe in October. We also send our condolences to the families of those brave Marines who have lost their lives.
